I would like to share an email we received from a JV Basketball referee regarding the Seneca JV basketball team. Great job coaches and players on your sportsmanship. ~Mr. Osterkamp
"I wanted to let you know that I have never seen such great sportsmanship by a coach or his players. Never once did they say negative remarks to the officials even when calls did not go their way. Instead, the coach instructed the players to move their feet etc. I was so impressed that the team did not question calls at all and were true sportsmen during the entire game. What a great reflection on your school and community. It was a positive experience!"

POSTIVE PARTICIPANT AT SPORTING EVENTS
As we are getting into the winter sports season, please remember to be a positive participant (Parent, Coach, Player, Fan). Everyone has a responsibility and a role to play in the sporting event.
The Seneca Athletic handbook states: Sportsmanship ….. A Focus on Fan Behavior “Remember that sportsmanship is a reflection on you, your school, and your community, so let all fans support the team of their choice in the spirit of friendly competition.”
As part of ongoing emphasis on fan behavior at Seneca, we ask that you please make an effort to set a good example for our students and athletes. If inappropriate behavior, including verbal berating of officials, coaches, players, or other fans is observed by school personnel, you will receive a letter in the mail informing you that your behavior was not acceptable. Consider this a “gentle reminder” and please be more aware of your actions. If further examples of unacceptable behavior are observed, further steps will be taken, which could include being banned from future events. Please be an enthusiastic, loud, and positive supporter of our teams throughout this school year.
Enjoy the Winter Sports Season,
Alex Osterkamp
Seneca District Principal
