Plastic

The Seneca Area School District will again participate in a plastic recycling program in 2025. NexTrex, a company that produces products like decking from recycled plastic, offers a recycling initiative that rewards schools and businesses with a park bench for collecting over one thousand pounds of plastic.

Last year, students, teachers, and community members dropped off plastic at designated areas within the school. The collected plastic was weighed and delivered to the Hy-Vee store in La Crosse.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the school district and the community, over one thousand pounds of plastic were successfully recycled last year. Once we reach this goal again, the district will receive another park bench made from recycled plastic from NexTrex. The bench awarded last year is currently located next to the main entrance of the school.

The school district will begin collecting plastic on Monday, January 13, 2024. Clean plastic can be dropped off with Mr. Osterkamp in room 106. There will also be a collection box available in the elementary school. If you are bringing a large amount of plastic, please use a clear plastic garbage bag. Once the school district has collected over one thousand pounds of plastic, Mr. Osterkamp will notify the school district and the community. Thank you to everyone who participates in the recycling program!
